CET has been granted a patent for the invention of a method and system for
providing variable speed control to an electric motor. The patented invention is a discontinuous digital pulse code modulation scheme which can be implemented with less device utilization and has better performance compared to conventional pulse width modulation schemes used in motor control of Electric Vehicles. Effective control of the motor in an electric vehicle is essential for optimizing performance, maximizing efficiency, extending battery life, ensuring safety, and improving the overall driving experience.
The research work that led to this invention was carried out in the Electronics and Communication Department of CET by Dr. Biji Jacob (Professor) and Ms. Jeeshma Mary Paul (Research Scholar).
