Enhancing Accessibility and Inclusion Through Design
Following the Rights of Persons with Disability (PwD) Act in 2016, both the central and state governments have been taking up initiatives to include persons with disabilities in mainstream society, especially for higher education and employment. But are the people and places of today ready to be inclusive? In this context, the Department of Architecture and Planning, College of Engineering Trivandrum is organising a 3-day Online Faculty Development Programme titled “Enhancing Accessibility and Inclusion through Design” from January 10-12, 2024.
The course intends to introduce faculty members from various Architecture, Design & engineering colleges to issues and challenges in the world of Persons with Disabilities. This course also familiarises them with various accessible design technologies & processes at different levels ranging from products to large built environments in order to create inclusivity through design.
Experts from IITs, NID and industry will be handling the sessions.
Faculty from Architecture, Design, Civil, Mechanical or any other Engineering departments interested in enhancing accessibility through design.
There is no fee for participants from Government/ Aided/ Government-controlled institutions.
Applications are to be submitted online through the faculty login option through the website of the Director of Technical Education, Kerala.

Faculty from private self-financing institutions and Ph.D. students need to pay a fee of Rs. 1000/-.
