About Trivandrum

Trivandrum (locally known as Thiruvananthapuram) is the capital city of Kerala and is well connected to the rest of the country by rail, road and air. The climate at Trivandrun during November is pleasant with temperature varying between 22 to 30 degrees.

There are interesting tourist destinations in and around Trivandrum city. A few of the impottant destinations are listed here.

Padmamabhaswami Temple
is a famous Hindu temple of Lord Vishnu, located inside the Fort in city of Thiruvananthapuram. The main deity, Padmanabhaswamy, is a form of Vishnu in Anananthasayanam posture (in eternal sleep of yognidra). This is an ancient temple and the city of Thiruvananthapuram derives its name from the name of the presiding deity enshrined in the temple.

Kovalam Beach Resort

A visit to Trivandrum is not complete without visiting Kovalam, one of the most popular beachs in India . Where when you are tired swimming or sunbathing, you can explore the handicrafts, jewelery and cloth shops. Mind you, they are rather expensive! You can try the delicious sea-food available at the beach side restaurants.

Museum, Art Gallary and Zoological Park
are located in the same campus in the centre of the city. There is a large variety of birds and animals in the zoo. It also has a reptile house and a museum containing stuffed birds and animals.
The Museum itself is an architectural splendor which combines traditional Kerala style with the Chinese and Mughal influences. It contains a rare collection of archaeological and historical artifacts. Sree Chitra Art Gallery displays some paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, and some wellknown Russian artists. You can find different art types and exquisite works from the Rajput, Mughal and Tanjore schools of art.

Neyyar Dam
It was established in 1958 and is a popular picnic spot. Lying against the southern low hills of the Western Ghats Neyyar Dam has a beautiful lake. Wild life includes gaur, sloth bear, Nilgiri Tahr, jungle cat and Nilgiri langur, wild elephants and sambar deer
Ponmudi Hill Station
Trekker's paradise, the idyllic hill resort Ponmudi is turning out to be the perfect retreat for city residents who want to get away from the sweltering heat. Padmanabhapuram Palace
complex is located in at Padmanabhapuram Fort, close to the town of Thuckalay in Kanyakumari District, Tamilnadu. It is about 50 kilometers from Trivandrum. Padmanabhapuram was the seat of power for the state of Travencore before it was shifted to Trivandrum. Padmanabhapuram is on the way to Kanyakumari
Cape Kanyakumari
The city at the southernmost tip of India, Kanyakumari offers you the mingling of three great seas, namely the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean and the great beaches from where you can see these giant water bodies. The multi-colored mineral sand of Kanyakumari is indeed a unique trait.The sunrise and sunset here is exceptionally beautiful, especially on full moon days when one can see the setting of sun and rising of moon almost simultaneously. Kanyakumari is 80 km from Trivandrum.
